SILICONIZED PAPERS Silicone coated Papers The variety of paper liners is nearly unlimited. Additionally to the main liner groups of super calandered, clay coated, machine glazed and PE-coated papers, many other substrates could be applied. Super calendered Kraft papers Super calandered Kraft papers are highly densified papers, offering a smooth and closed surface which is ideal for silicone coating. Generally, two different product groups can be distinguished: Glassines This paper grade encompasses the highest degree of density and offers an optimal surface for a consistent silicone coating. Besides good coating capability, Glassine is manufactured within narrow caliper tolerances and provides good die-cutting performance. Due to its low absorption level, thin and consistent silicone coatings can be applied. Especially for double sided liners within narrow release differentials, Glassine offers considerable advantages in comparison to other paper carriers. Possible Product Combinations at Laufenberg Available basis weights: 40 – 160 g/m²  ( approx. 21,5 – 98 lbs/ream) Paper Color: upon request Coatings: single and double sided Silicone: solventfree; available also with low friction additive and in tinted version Print: reverse side or with print under silicone possible (single color flexographic) Specialty: also available as repulpable version SCK – Super Calandered Kraft Though also super calandered, this liner is less densified in comparison to a Glassine paper. Reverse side roughnesses as well as caliper of a SCK liner are significantly higher, if compared with a Glassine. Possible Product Combinations at  Laufenberg   Available basis weights: 68 – 90 g/m²   (approx. 30 – 50 lbs/ream) Color: white Coatings: single and double sided Silicone: solvent free; available also with low friction additive and in tinted Version Print: reverse side or with print under silicone possible (single color flexographic) Specialty: also available as repulpable version Clay Coated Kraft (CCK) Clay Coated Kraft papers combine two major advantages. Due to their top coating, these papers provide a very consistent surface and good dimensional stability. The variations on clay coatings are very versatile, starting from one side coated papers with single clay layers to double sided clay coated liners with multiple top coatings and high internal bond constructions. Available surfaces range from high gloss to matt finish. Possible Product Combinations at Laufenberg Available basis weights: 80 – 150 g/m² (37 – 92 lbs/ream) Colors: white; colored liners upon request Clay Coatings: single or double sided Surface Finish: glossy to matt finish Release Coating: single or double sided Silicone: solvent free; available also with low friction additive and in tinted Version Print: reverse side or with print under silicone (single color flexographic) Specialties: reverse side PE-extruded with our without perforation Machine Glazed Kraft Papers (MGK) This carrier is an uncoated paper that is a glazed on one side (Yankee-Cylinder) only. Because of its low density, MGK has a high porosity. Possible Product Combinations at Laufenberg Available basis weights: 45 – 65 g/m²  (37 – 92 lbs/ream) Colors: white;  natural/unbleached upon request Release Coating: single or double sided Silicone: solvent free Print: reverse side (single color flexographic)   PE-Coated Kraft (PEK) The extruded PE-layer is primarily protecting the paper against moisture and /or is enhancing the dimensional stability of a liner. Through the combination of especially selected paper carriers and PE coating, the surface characteristic, mechanical strength as well as optical appearance can be customized. Possible Product Combinations at Laufenberg Available basis weights: 65 – 140 g/m² ( – 92 lbs/ream) Colors: white; unbleached or colored upon request PE-coatings: single or both sides PE coated LDPE/MDPE/HDPE possible Surface finish: gloss/matt further combinations possible Release Coating: single or double sided Silicone: solvent free Print: print on PE or under PE layer
