Adhesive tapes
Your application in detail
Release liners that offer differential release levels on both sides in particular have proven themselves in the production of double-sided adhesive tapes.
An adhesive compound – waterborne, solvent-based or from the melt – is applied to the tighter-release side, dried or cooled and wound onto itself. Thanks to the differing release properties of the silicone coatings, the adhesive film does not transfer to the reverse side during further processing.
Important: the different release levels are not achieved by reducing the silicone coat weight, but through deliberate variation of the silicone formulation. This prevents sticking to the carrier film, which can occur when silicone coverage is insufficient.
Pressure-sensitive adhesives are often produced with intermediate carriers such as nonwovens or films that increase mechanical strength or act as a barrier layer. Double-sided tapes are used as mounting or carpet tape, as self-adhesive insulation materials (laminated to foam) or as die-cuts, for example for bonds in mobile phones.
In addition, we support new developments in the adhesive tape sector – from the first idea to series maturity.
