Composites
Your application in detail
Release liners are an essential component in the production of composites, fibre-reinforced materials, special textiles, CFRP and so-called prepregs.
During production the release liner must offer optimal properties – such as a particular lay-flat behaviour. Downstream processing also places the highest demands on the carrier and the respective silicone system: release values have to be set precisely to the resin system.
Composites usually consist of high-performance materials such as carbon, glass and aramid fibres together with special, very tacky resin systems. They are used above all in the wind and automotive industries, in aerospace and in sports.
Many prepregs are based on carbon fibres and are produced solvent-free with hot melt systems – with a long shelf life and high surface quality in the component. CFRP components stand out for their low weight, high strength and stiffness, corrosion and fatigue resistance as well as low thermal expansion.
